Believe it or not, this guy was 12 months old– and yes, he really was that big in real life!. Can you imagine having this majestic and powerful animal watching you and walking toward you? Good thing humans are not generally on their menu.

As big and strong as he is, he still doesn’t have the finesse or knowledge to hunt on his own, though I wouldn’t want to cross his path on foot. You could easily miss him until he’s close, for he was incredibly quiet, and even with the dried leaves on the ground, the tigers are silent; often, you only know a tiger is nearby because of the alarm calls of the deer who have much better eyes and ears than we do. I stayed far away, safely in a vehicle.
